Tobin submitted Finger Eleven‘s 2007 track “Paralyzer” vs. Skid Row’s 1988 “Youth Gone Wild”. As soon as I heard “Paralyzer” I thought of Franz Ferdinand‘s 2004 hit “Take Me Out”. Although I’m not totally convinced of the third Skid Row similarity I thought I would post it anyway cause this track is such a classic.
Franz Ferdinand vs. Finger Eleven vs. Skid Row
Franz Ferdinand – “Take Me Out” (2004)
Finger Eleven – “Paralyzer” (2007)
Skid Row – “Youth Gone Wild” (1988)

I was trying to find a song that sounded like Take Me Out, but was newer and had a female vocalist. It turns out it was Shut Up And Let Me Go by the Ting Tangs. I don’t listen to the radio, so I don’t know how stupidly obvious this was.

Thanks for the comment Stuart. Yes! I’ve been meaning to add the Ting Tings track for quite a while!

I saw Finger Eleven a few summers ago live and during Paralyzer they cut into Take Me Out for a bit

The finger eleven song was bugging me since it came out trying to figure out who they were “ripping off”. So I searched a bunch of sites and they said franz ferdinand, Led zeppelin’s trampled underfoot and others, but those were not it, but as soon as I heard skid row’s song I thought finally “that’s it”.

The first song that came to mind was Youth Gone Wild when I heard Paralyzer. The front man for my fave cover band actually said they would never do Paralyzer b/c they ripped of Franz.

For me it has always been Franz Ferdinand – “Take Me Out” vs Ringo Starr – “Back Off Boogaloo” (1972)
