Arcade Fire vs. Blondie

The new Arcade Fire record “The Suburbs” has been getting some amazing reviews. It’s a great record! There are a few songs on there that ring a bell in my head when I hear them.  “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)”  is a bit of a departure from the rest of the record and shares a pretty close similarity to Blondie‘s 1978 classic “Heart of Glass”. Have a listen:

I don’t think so. I definitely see a Blondie sound to it and have from the first listen, but I don’t think it bites off “Heart of Glass.” More just an homage to Blondie if anything.

The only similarity I hear is Blondie and Régine Chassagne’s singing style.

That’s EXACTLY what I thought the first time I heard Arcade’s song! The beat sounds VERY similar to Heart of Glass.
