In 1991 Metallica, already metal gods, broke out into the mainstream with “Enter Sandman”. I don’t think Faster Pussycat ever reached their level of success but they did release “Where’s There’s A Whip There’s A Way” on an album called “Wake Me When It’s Over” that sounds eerily similar to Sandman. There are no identical note for note similarities here but if you put together the overall songs they are very similar. Have a listen to these clips I made and see for yourself:
Intro/Riff
Faster Pussycat - “Where’s There’s A Whip There’s A Way” (1989)
Metallica – “Enter Sandman” (1991)
Chorus Outro
Faster Pussycat - “Where’s There’s A Whip There’s A Way” (1989)
Metallica – “Enter Sandman” (1991)
Guitar Solo
Faster Pussycat - “Where’s There’s A Whip There’s A Way” (1989)
Metallica – “Enter Sandman” (1991)
