The Doors vs. Muse

the-doors-vs-muse

Kirb and Hunter both sent me this so I had to check it out. Muse put out a new single called “Psycho” and the main guitar riff sounds a lot like “Roadhouse Blues” by The Doors. I’m sure you can probably trace the origins of this bluesy riff back a few more decades.

Have a listen!

Heya! Hunter here, thanks for posting this! Their newest one, “Dead Inside,” also sounds like something, though I’m not sure what. Some Depeche Mode song, also Prince. I would suggest “Dead Inside” vs. Prince’s “Sign ?’ the Times,” but good luck on finding a copy of any of Prince’s music and being able to upload it here. 😛

My god… Could we have another Muse soundalike that DEFINITELY isn’t a coincidence?

As for the Depeche Mode similarity, to be fair, they’ve always kind of felt like DM since “Undisclosed Desires.”

I’m pretty sure that both the Doors and Muse are taking in the guitar and bass parts from John Lee Hooker’s work. I can’t think of a specific song to show that exactly, though.

Has anyone compared Muse – Psycho with Frank Klepacki – Hell March, the soundtrack of Command & Conquer? Because that is almost the same.
