Marshmello “Happier” vs. OneRepublic “I Lived” Remix by Arty

I had to give this one a few listens. I was expecting more but after a few listens you can really hear the main keyboard hook in both. The odd thing here is the “original” track is actually a remix. But alas, it’s 2019 and here we are.

Nashville copyright attorney Richard Busch, who previously represented the Marvin Gaye estate in its suit against Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams’ “Blurred Lines,” is representing Arty. The DJ is seeking “actual damages in addition to Defendants’ profits both domestically and relating to foreign sales of other exploitation of ‘Happier’ that were manufactured, distributed or otherwise infringed domestically,” along with a “running royalty on all future exploitations of ‘Happier’ following judgement in an amount to be determined.”

“Everything we have to say at this time is set forth in detail in the Complaint,” Busch tells Rolling Stone. “This includes of course the facts setting forth, among other things, access, and a thorough and compelling musical transcription comparison that shows, as we said in the Complaint, note for note copying of Arty’s work.”

A rep for Marshmello did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ellie Goulding “Close To Me” sounds like Post Malone “Psycho”

Has anyone else noticed this?  I’m not sure who to blame here. Diplo because he’s the producer? Swae Lee because one of his verses sounds just like “Pyscho” or Ellie Goulding because Lee’s verse is built off a variation of the chorus hook. Have a listen:

Post Malone ft. Ty Dolla $ign - "Psycho" (Feb 2018)
Ellie Goulding, Diplo, Swae Lee - "Close To Me (Swae Lee Verse)" (Oct 2018)

Billie Eilish vs. The Doors

Billie Eilish definitely has her own unique sound. But I couldn’t help hearing The Doors influence in “Bury a Friend”. Have a quick listen:
