While putting the previous Tears for Fears Vs. Jawbox post together I stumbled upon another hook in the “Break it Down Again”. This seems to be a common phrase that for some reason reminded me of a Hillary Duff track I heard at the gym (yes, that is my excuse!).
Tears for Fears - "Break it Down Again" (1993)
Hillary Duff - "Wake Up" (2005)
I’d also like to point out that Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved” could probably fit into this group as well.
Great find Elle! I added an update here: https://www.thatsongsoundslike.com/2009/09/14/update-maroon-5-vs-tears-for-fears/
wow uncanny they both sound like taylor swifts love story
some reason i also hear a little bit of soul asylum “runaway train”
Yes! That’s It! I knew there was another one. I’ll definitely post an update to this.
There are also shades of Savage Garden’s Truly Madly Deeply in here, too
