I always love a good TV theme comparison. Fans of the early nineties television series Twin Peaks might have had “The Loco-Motion” stuck in their head for the next day or two. Have a listen.
Kylie Minogue - "The Loco-Motion" (1962/1988)
Angelo Badalamenti - "Falling (Twin Peaks Theme)" (1990)

Now that you mention TV themes, check out Vicki Sue Robinson’s “Turn The Beat Around” next to the 1990’s Fantastic Four cartoon intro. Also: Hall & Oates’ “You Make My Dreams Come True” compared with the Ducktales theme.
Love the site, BTW.
@Max
These are great suggestions!
ive always found a similarity between TP theme and the cures ‘funeral party’
Good one!
Actually, The Locomotion was originally performed by Little Eva in 1962 and by Grand Funk Railroad in 1974 before Kylie Minogue butchered it in the 80’s. I’m surprised nobody else mentioned this.
Yup! I linked to that wikipedia page for that version in the post. I probably should’ve mentioned it as well!
And to bring it full circle:
from David Lynch’s INLAND EMPIRE
Ha!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t this song first done not by Kylie Minogue, but by Grand Funk Railroad?
Hey, hm, that’s probably why I put “1962” in the year. Check the Wikipedia article I linked to.
