When I heard Lady Gaga‘s “Paparazzi” I couldn’t quite figure out what the chorus was reminding me of. It just came to me today – “Take My Breath Away” by Berlin. This is the main love song featured in the 1986 Tom Cruise film Top Gun. Not as dramatic as I thought when I eventually checked it out, but thought I would post it anyway.

My husband and I were watching the March 5th, 2023, episode of CBS Sunday Morning and during the “In Memoriam” part they played a very simple piano-only song (no lyrics) that we both thought was Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi. It turns out it was Take My Breath Away which was sung by Berlin and written by Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock, who died this past week.
