Just for your information, “House of the rising sun” is a classic folk song that doesn’t belong exclusively to the animals (altough their version is very good). For example, Bob Dylan sang it a couple of years before.
House of the rising son is a traditional BLUES Folk song popularized by the great LEDBELLY! Huddy Ledbetter is the original artist for this supposedly well known ditty.
Leadbelly never claimed to have written the song, though he largely helped popularize it. Woodie Guthrie recorded a version several years before Leadbelly did.
