This is an update to Tony! Toni! Toné! vs. Nirvana originally submitted by Beau
For some reason artists have decided to latch on to the pre-chorus of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (1991). Let’s add YouTube sensation Karmin to the list with there aptly titled track “Hello” (2012). The song’s wikipedia page says
“Hello” interpolates “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana.
I am not entirely sure what that means. Linear notes anyone? Once again using state of the art computer technology I am able to come up with these 4 simulated reactions from Kurt Cobain if he was with us today.
Nirvana - "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (1991)
Tony! Toni! Toné! - "Let's Get Down" (1996)

That’s what it means….but could it be worded so poorly??
can’t remember if i submitted this one yet or not..one for the country folks
tim mcgraw:let it go
diamond rio:beautiful mess
Maybe I missed the reasoning somewhere…but is there a reason this classic one hasn’t made it on here? After all poor George was sued over it.
George Harrison: my sweet lord
The Chiffons: hes so fine
That one had been submitted at some point. Must’ve slipped through the cracks. I get tons of submissions. It’s hard to get to them all.
Somebody also pointed out a guitar solo from Wilco – “You Never Know” (2009) that sounded like “My Sweet Lord” as well.
Anyone submit this yet?
MIley:party in the usa
Modest mouse:float on
yup! somebody sent that one to me back in june 2011. Haven’t posted it though. Can’t do ’em all!
Heres another match up to try
mary chapin carpenter:passionate kisses
chad brock:she said yes
rodney atkins:watching you
Well done, once again Keith! 🙂
I found another song for you! I found it and it was one of those songs where you are like, “I have heard this before!!”
I love both of these artists, but the interlude melodies are VERY similar. Check these out when you get a chance:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr6fsCY9MbU “Charge Me Up” -Jennifer Lopez
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BC1Q9KtO7OE “Puppet” -The Saturdays
Listen to when J-Lo sings, “Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh ,oh” and when The Saturdays sing, “La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!” It’s the same exact melody, but just with a different word.
Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend, all! 🙂
