Kid Rock recently made headlines with his Super Bowl “event”. I recently learned that, although it was supposed to be a Live event, Robert Ritchie (“Kid Rock”), let it slip that it was taped and edited. Many also pointed out that it was likely (poorly) lip sync’d. And there was also a very impressive move where he threw the microphone from one hand to the other. With that said, we can mostly agree that Kid Rock’s music is ……. [leave your thoughts in the comments].
“All Summer Long” – The Intentional Mashup
Kid Rock’s 2008 summer anthem “All Summer Long” is actually a mashup of two of the most iconic songs of the 1970s. ThatSongSoundLiker Doug pointed out this comparison, noting:
“Sweet home Alabama” has a few sound-a-likes, most notably “Werewolves of London” by Warren Zevon, which in turn is ripped off by Kid Rock’s “All Summer Long” which ironically quotes “Sweet Home Alabama” in the lyrics.

Important note: Unlike many of the comparisons on this site, “All Summer Long” was done legally. Eight people are credited as songwriters on the track: Warren Zevon, Leroy Marinell, and Waddy Wachtel (for “Werewolves of London”), Ed King, Gary Rossington, and Ronnie Van Zant (for “Sweet Home Alabama”), plus Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker for the new lyrics and arrangement. All original songwriters receive royalties, making this a legitimate mashup rather than plagiarism. Does it make it a good song? Leave a note in the comments.
