“Girl Crush” wins “Best Country Song” at the 2016 Grammies. Remember Lady Antebellum’s Grammy Award winning “Need You Know” (2009)? Lady Antebellum vs. The Alan Parsons Project . There has been a bit of discussion on facebook over what sounds like Little Big Town’s controversial track “Girl Crush”. My first reaction was that the guitar riff sounded a lot like “Unchained Melody”. A few others chimed in and and there are some good ones. Have a listen!

What do these 80s rockers have in common besides totally 80s hair?
After posting the insane similarities between Bonnie Tyler’s “If You Were a Woman and I Was a Man” and Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name” (both from 1986!) a few folks added some others to the mix. Check these out with Swedish singer Ankie Bagger’s ” Where Were You Last Night” (1989) as well as Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven is a Place on Earth” (1987). Important to note is Bad Name and I Was a Man were actually both written by hit making machine Desmond Child.
The Carlisle song is definitely not as similar but here it is anyway:

Wow. I’m surprised I never heard this Bonnie Tyler track. Maybe I did and just thought it was Bon Jovi‘s “You Give Love a Bad Name”. The great thing about this one is they were both released in 1986 and both of them were actually written by hit making machine Desmond Child. Not only did Child write nearly identical choruses, both tracks start out with a cappella versions of the chorus. In addition, the verses share a very similar walking bass/guitar line. I guess Child can’t sue himself!
