10 One Direction Songs that Sound Like Other Songs

10 One Direction Songs that Sound Like Other Songs

This is a fairly long list of One Direction (1D) songs that sound like other songs. They seem to do this a lot. Well, the songwriters behind the curtain do. The most interesting thing about this is that most of these One Direction songs came out 1 year after the song they sound like. That doesn’t seem coincidental here. This is a pattern.

“Live While We’re Young” sounds like The Clash “Should I Stay or Should I Go”

If you look really closely at the cover of The Clash‘s Combat Rock (1982) you will see the boy band One Direction in the background. This explains it all.

Loreen vs. Cascada vs. The Killers

Submitted by Alex

A few folks have pointed out that the Eurovision 2013 submission “Glorious” by German group Cascada sounds a bit like this years’ Swedish winner Loreen for her song “Euphoria”.  I also noticed a small similarity in “When You Were Young” by the Killers  (2006).

Cascada - "Glorious" (2013)

Loreen - "Euphoria" (2012)

The Killers - "When You Were Young" (2006)

Just in case  you are not familiar with the Eurovision Song Contest you might want to watch this:

Justin Bieber vs. September

Justin Bieber vs September

It is apparent that Justin Bieber isn’t the only one who needs somebody to love.  Queen needed somebody to love in 1976 and of course Jefferson Airplane in 1967. “Somebody to Love  (featuring Usher)” (2010) was actually originally recorded by Usher himself in 2010 (or 2009?). Here is some info from wikipedia about Biebs:

[“Somebody to Love”] served as the second single from [Justin Bieber’s] album, My World 2.0. It was written by Heather Bright and The Stereotypes, and produced by the latter. The song was originally recorded as a demo by Bieber’s mentor, R&B singer, Usher, for his sixth studio album, Raymond v. Raymond (2010). After things went stale with Usher’s label, The Stereotypes were encouraged to give the song to Bieber, who recorded it, with Usher performing background vocals.  – from wikipedia

Note: “Cry for You” samples the keyboard line from Bronski Beat’s “Smalltown Boy” (1984). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xuz94ZIPfJk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smalltown_Boy

Now that we got that out of the way. Check out September‘s 2006 track “Cry for You” with “Somebody to Love”. Enjoy!
