22 Songs That Sound Like Green Day

For more than 30 years Green Day has been churning out three chord pop-punk gems that make you feel like you’re fifteen years old again (and if you’re 15 and reading this you’ll understand one day). They do it really well. Sometimes TOO well. There’s a good reason why some of those catchy riffs cut right into your brain – you’ve heard them before.

I’m not here to accuse Green Day of intentionally stealing musical ideas but it just so happens that Green Day comes up quite a lot when looking at these comparisons. This might be the biggest compilation on this site to date! There are even some cases where the scenario is reversed. Let’s have a listen!

One Eyed Bastard (2024)

I also couldn’t help hear something else in the Green Day song. The Offspring “Self Esteem” maybe? I dunno, there’s probably a hundred pop punk songs that this part could be compared to. Have a listen!

Oh Love (2012)

21 Guns (2009)

What about the guitar solo? I found something interesting 🙂

6 Songs That Sound Like Michael Jackson Songs

He’s the King of Pop so of course he’s gonna appear on this site at least twice, maybe three or four times. There are some good ones here. Enjoy!

1.

Back in 2009 a previously unreleased MJ song called “A Place With No Name” surfaced.  According to one reader, “The album booklet for Xscape states that ‘A Place With No Name’ was recorded during an early Invincible session in 1998.”. According to TMZ, “[They were] told several years ago [that] America’s manager gave his group’s permission for Jackson to record the song, ‘A Place with No Name’ — despite the similarity.” I mean, even the song titles are similar. Listen up:

2.

One day I was in a French restaurant and heard a beat and bass line that really sounded like “Billie Jean”.  Even the synth string part was similar. It was in French and sounded disco-era. I pulled out Shazam on my iPhone and bingo –  “Elle danse Marie” by François Valéry.

3.

Have a listen to The Jackson 5’s 1978 “Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)” then have a listen to the intro to Huey Lewis & The News – “I Want a New Drug” (1984). There’s also this whole Huey Lewis vs. Ghostbusters thing you can look at after this.
