The Supremes vs. The Coral

English band The Coral released their popular track “Dreaming of You” in 2002. But some would say it closely resembles The Supremes “My World Is Empty Without You,” recorded back in 1965. Check out the clips below. Gloomy melodies, angsty lyrics, and everything you need for a great breakup song. They even have similar imagery:

“Inside this cold and empty house I dwell… My world is empty without you, babe.” (The Supremes)

“Up in my lonely room, when I’m dreaming of you… Oh what can I do? I still need you.” (The Coral)

Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam vs. The Supremes

Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam "Head to Toe"

I just pulled this one out of the user submission “archives”.  It’s from Eric and highlights a pretty significant melody in Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam‘s 1987 hit “Head to Toe” and The Supremes‘  1965 classic “Back in My Arms Again”.
