Lady Antebellum took home Song of The Year at the 2011 Grammy Awards for their song “Need You Now”. In 1982 British progressive rock band The Alan Parsons Project released “Eye in the Sky” which shares a resemblance to the “Need You Know” melody. Have a listen!
Ever since Patrick mentioned this to me it’s been driving me nuts. According to Wikipedia John Denver sued New Order claiming that, “its wordless guitar break was based on his ‘Leaving on a Jet Plane'”. And later an out-of-court settlement, “ensured that the song would never be re-released in its original form”. I’ve listened to a few different versions of Run2 and all I can find is what I grabbed in this post. I either don’t have the correct original version or John Denver was smoking some really strong pot.

Doug had some great additions to the Lynrd Skynrd vs. Steve Miller Band post. He says:
“Sweet home Alabama” has a few sound-a-likes, most notably “Werewolves of London” by Warren Zevon, which in turn is ripped off by Kid Rock’s “All Summer Long” which ironically quotes “Sweet Home Alabama” in the lyrics.
