Well, I think I can retire now that a guy on YouTube (Carl E. Martin) covered the most used melody far better than I ever have. A lot of the songs Carl shows have been documented on this site over the years. It seems like he put a lot of work into this video. Have a watch!
The Gen Alpha Melody
I’ve documented a similar melody I’ve called “CatrianiPlay”:
Hey, APT again! Jack Lo made a YouTube video on the same subject, but this one is better, as I didn’t agree with some of his examples. Carl Martin actually put some of those songs in the section on songs with similar, but not identical melodies. I thought that Ava Max-So Am I sounded like Left Outside Alone, and so did Britney Spears-Shattered Glass, but never thought of them belonging to this group. The one complaint I have about this video is that he changed the speed of the songs to put them in the same tempo, making them sound more similar than they would otherwise and making the singers’ voices sound unnaturally high/deep.
