The similarity is obvious the second Vanessa Carlton‘s new single “Carousel” (2011) starts. The piano and vocal melody sounds a lot  like the chorus of Cyndi Lauper‘s 1986 hit “True Colors”.

According to a tweet by Carlton on 4/3/2011 “Carousel” was “…A tune [she] woke up singing”.
