I always hear echoes of Cheap Trick’s “The Flame” in “She Will Be Loved.”
It’s the melody when Cheap Trick sings:
I’m going crazy, I’m losing sleep.
I’m in too far, I’m in way too deep over you.
This sounds like the chorus from the Maroon 5 song…

And how about Love Story by Taylor Swift (2008?): You were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles and my daddy said “Stay away from Juliet”.

That part of Runaway Train also sounds like If You Could Read My Mind by Gordon Lightfoot and The Greatest Love of All by Whitney Houston. Gordon Lightfoot won the case about The Greatest Love of All infringing his copyright. If you don’t know what I’m talking about it’s this:
“If you could read between the lines then you’d see I’m just trying to understand”
” I de – cid -ed long a – go never to walk in anyone’s shadow”
A similar tune in that part, but used to such different ends.

The riff from Harder to Breathe by Maroon 5 (2002) sounds like American Woman by The Guess Who (1970).

In regards to The Greatest Love of All, have a listen to this part of We’re All Alone by Boz Scaggs (1976).
